What happened

Sky News reports Kent Police had no reports of violence and were talking to demonstrators. The Park Run was cancelled and port traffic stopped. Inevitablewest's post, at 720,000 views, says the protesters refused to move.

The split on the right

Farage called it 'disgusting' and said nobody should protest in balaclavas. Rupert Lowe, at 131,000 views, said it was peaceful and politicians should understand the anger. Tommy Robinson says Farage 'jumps straight to condemn'.

Labour and the jail argument

Dover MP Mike Tapp told the protesters to go home and get a job. Brendan Cox, at 75,000 views, notes Extinction Rebellion bridge blockers got three years and hopes the ringleaders get the same.
