What was said

Margolyes suggested a black father and white mother. When Peters said both parents are black, she called him 'high-yalla', a plantation-era term for lighter-skinned black people. Peters told her the producers were 'getting nervous'.

ITV's edit

ripx4nutmeg's post, at 1.5 million views, says ITV cut the exchange from the online version and issued no apology. Narinder Kaur, at 187,000, reads Peters' calm as a black presenter managing someone else's racism on air.

The scrutiny argument

Stephen Pollard's Telegraph column calls her 'an irrational disgrace' and says a straight white man would have been cancelled years ago. AntSpeaks, at 463,000 views, notes she was there to promote a book about racism and the far right.
