The record
£3.48bn by Sky Sports' count, up from £3.19bn last summer. Eleven clubs broke their own transfer records; Coventry did it four times.
The net
Clubs recouped £2.17bn in sales. Manchester City spent £440m but sold £315m. Liverpool had the highest net spend at £219m.
The gap
Serie A spent £844m, LaLiga £604m, the Bundesliga £508m, Ligue 1 £491m. The Premier League outspent the other four combined.
